MAG HEAD COACH APPOINTMENT

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Rodrigo Caron as Gold Coast Gymnastics
Club MAG Head Coach.

Rodrigo is an ex-gymnast who graduated from university with a degree in Physical Education
and Sports Pedagogy. He has over 18 years’ experience in coaching Men’s and Women’s
gymnastics, working with children of young ages through to senior competitive gymnasts.
Rodrigo holds a FIG 2 Coaching Academy accreditation, has coached at the highest
international level and also holds a FIG Judging Brevet for Men’s Gymnastics and was a part of
the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

The MAG Head Coach role is a new role designed to take the MAG Competitive program to the
next level of its high-performance vision. Rodrigo comes with distinguished experience at
National and International level and will be responsible for building a high-performance
program, with clear pathways from recreation to competitive levels whilst ensuring mentorship
within our current coaching framework.

Glenn Ng who previously expressed his desire to dedicate his time exclusively to coaching,
along with Sam Thackway will continue as Senior Coaches. This is a fundamental step towards
building for the future success of our Competitive Programs, ensuring the current senior, junior
and developmental squads have the programs in place to achieve success moving forward.
We are excited to see what Rodrigo and the team can do in the new year. Rodrigo will officially
commence his employment on January 6th 2025.
